COLD CHISEL OFFER FREE DOWNLOAD OF FIRST NEW RECORDING IN 13 YEARS & ANNOUNCE THE RELEASE OF PUBLIC-VOTED BEST OF ALBUM. PLUS, MORE SHOWS!

Following the phenomenal public reaction to the announcement of their Light The Nitro Tour and their recent catalogue reissue, Cold Chisel have taken the unusual step of inviting the public to vote for the songs they want on the band’s upcoming new Best Of album. And everyone who votes for their favourite Cold Chisel songs via the band’s website will be able to download Cold Chisel’s new single, All For You, for free. All the votes will then be tallied to create All For You The Best of Cold Chisel … a new compilation album handpicked by the public.

The album will take its name from the band’s first new studio recording in 13 years, All For You. It’s classic Cold Chisel; a powerful Don Walker-penned song made all the more special for the fact that it features the last ever recorded performance by the band’s drummer Steve Prestwich, who passed away unexpectedly in January.

From Monday, 29 August at 9.00am through till 6.00pm on Friday, 2 September (Australian EST), people will be able to go into the band’s website [www.coldchisel.com] and cast their vote for the 5 songs that they want to see on the album.  The album will also include two new songs, one of which will be All For YouAll For You The Best Of Cold Chisel will be released by Warner Music on Friday, 14 October, the day after the band starts the Light The Nitro Tour in Newcastle.

It stops us arguing about what songs to include on the album,” laughed Jimmy Barnes of the album’s unique selection process. “Whenever you compile a record like this, there’s always someone who says ‘why didn’t you include this or that’ … Now we’ve got someone else to blame.”

Coinciding with the voting, All For You will be released to all radio around the country on Monday, 29 August.

Today, Cold Chisel also announces another show on their Light The Nitro Tour. The band will play Newcastle Entertainment Centre on Sunday, 11 December and they have confirmed that this will be the last show added to this tour. Tickets for that show will go on sale at 9.00am next Friday, 2 September.

That means the final show of the tour will be their recently announced 13 December date at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre for which limited tickets still remain. At both of these last two gigs, Cold Chisel will be supported by The Break, the brilliant surf-instrumental band that includes friends and ex-members of Midnight Oil – Jim Moginie, Rob Hirst and Martin Rotsey.

In other news, due to overwhelming demand on the Sunshine Coast, there has been a change of venue from Stockland Park to the nearby Sunshine Coast Stadium.  Current ticketholders do not need to do anything in relation to the change of the venue as all existing tickets are still valid on a general admission basis.  This change of venue offers improved sightlines and sound, as well a limited number of extra tickets which are on sale now.

Additionally, Cold Chisel have been trying to find a way to look after Perth, and WA, who are still pleading for more shows. Unfortunately it is logistically impossible to add more shows in 2011 but the band is hoping to find a way to get back to the west before too long.

Dates and venues for the Light The Nitro Tour are on the tour page.

The tour will be presented nationally by Triple M and Southern Cross Media, MAX and CMC
