There’s nothing more Australian than hot sun, warm waves and COLD CHISEL – especially on the eve of this holiday weekend.

The bands classic songs like Khe Sanh, Flame Trees, Bow River, My Baby, Cheap Wine, Saturday Night and You Got Nothing I Want have become the soundtrack to our summers.

Now, for the first time ever, this legendary Australian band will be playing a series of very special outdoors shows this summer on their Blood Moon Tour 2020.

As part of this very rare occurrence, COLD CHISEL will do one of their biggest gigs ever in the very first concert played at Bankwest Stadium on Friday 24 January.

From now until the concert this Friday, Bankwest Stadium will donate $50 from every ticket purchased to Cold Chisel’s Blood Moon Tour directly to the NSW Rural Fire Service.

This is your chance to be part of an unbelievable night of Aussie music with Cold Chisel, Hoodoo Gurus, Birds of Tokyo, Busby Marou AND help support the ongoing bushfire relief effort.

Limited tickets remain, don’t wait book now!

For those attending on Friday, don’t forget to check out the FAQ’s before the concert. It includes transport information and helpful information on what you can and can’t bring.

Cold Chisel and Hoodoo Gurus ready to welcome thousands of Rural Fire Service volunteers at Bankwest Stadium

image002

Legendary Australian rock bands Cold Chisel and Hoodoo Gurus will play to a full house at the first ever concert at Bankwest Stadium, with the crowd including thousands of Rural Fire Service volunteers and their families who will be honoured guests at the venue.

Minister for Sport and Member for Parramatta the Hon. Dr Geoff Lee, MP, has announced that Venues NSW, which owns the Stadium on behalf of the NSW Government, has donated more than 2500 tickets to volunteers as a “thank you” for their extraordinary service and sacrifice during the current bushfire crisis.

As part of their first ever outdoor summer tour, Cold Chisel will be joined at Bankwest Stadium on Friday 24 January by Hoodoo Gurus, Birds of Tokyo and Busby Marou.

Cold Chisel frontman Jimmy Barnes said the band was looking forward to seeing RFS bravehearts at the concert.

“We’ve been really moved by the sacrifices that these courageous volunteers have made in this desperate time,” says frontman Jimmy Barnes. “We’re excited to have them join us for this great night of rock & roll – and to raise our voices and say ‘thank you’.”

Hoodoo Gurus have never shared a bill with Cold Chisel, so this show provides the RFS volunteers and fans in general with a unique opportunity to witness two of Australia’s most-loved bands performing some of their greatest hits live.

“The ongoing bushfire emergency has made this a very hard, grim summer for so many Australians, and especially the RFS volunteers,” said Hoodoo Gurus singer/guitarist Dave Faulkner.

“They have endured unbelievable conditions defending communities and the price they have paid is beyond reckoning. We only hope that, for a few hours on Friday January 24, the healing power of music will give some of them a brief respite from the trauma they have experienced. In our own small way, we’d like to honour them for the sacrifices they have made on all our behalf.”

NSW Rural Fire Service Commissioner Shane Fitzsimmons said: “It’s been a devastating and tragic fire season and NSW RFS members have been working tirelessly for months to protect the community. Despite this adversity, there’s been incredible generosity shown by the Australian people.

“We’re grateful to Venues NSW and the NSW Government for offering our members tickets to the Cold Chisel concert, so they can take time out to enjoy a night off with these Aussie rock legends.”

Good seats are still available for the Blood Moon Tour 2020 show at Bankwest Stadium on Friday 24 January via Ticketek here. Gates open at 4.30pm.

Fans attending the concert will be able to donate directly to the NSW Rural Fire Service and the official tour charity Foodbank, which has been providing relief for fire-affected communities. Cold Chisel has already pledged a six-figure sum to fire services and other support networks

Cold Chisel have been playing to rave reviews around the nation since the tour started on New Year’s Eve. Their album Blood Moon debuted at #1 on the ARIA Chart in December and the band’s album All For You – The Best of Cold Chisel has just been announced as the second highest selling Australian album of the past decade.

Australian Bushfires: How we can all help

Like all Australians, the members of Cold Chisel are appalled by the recent bushfires and the devastation they are wreaking on our people, the countryside and our wildlife. We are donating a six figure sum to the fire services and related support networks – including our tour partners Foodbank - who are doing such incredible work.

We urge everyone to do whatever they can to help.

‘BLOOD MOON’ RISES TO #1 AND SETS NEW ARIA RECORD!

Chisel No.1 - Full Curtain

Cold Chisel’s latest studio album, the critically acclaimed Blood Moon, has debuted at #1 on the ARIA Album Chart confirming the iconic band has lost none of its rock ‘n roll swagger over the years.

BUY OR STREAM ‘BLOOD MOON’ HERE

Blood Moon, the ninth studio album from Cold Chisel, lands loudly and proudly at #1 this week. It is their third #1 album in the ARIA Charts, after Twentieth Century (1984) and The Last Wave of Summer (1998). Cold Chisel had two more #1 albums before the ARIA Charts began – Circus Animals (1982) and Swingshift (1981). It has been 21 years since Cold Chisel topped the chart, and in that time they hit #2 with The Best Of Cold Chisel: All For You (2011), No Plans (2012) and The Perfect Crime (2015). Cold Chisel has broken their #2 streak, and now takes the record for most time between their first #1 and their latest – 38 years from 1981 until 2019.

In typical Cold Chisel style, Blood Moon is a potpourri of ideas, sounds and genres from the chooglin’ boogie of the first single Getting The Band Back Together, to the angry, viscerally epic Killing Time, the high-speed oblivion of Drive, the crazed-carnival sounds of Boundary Street to Ian Moss‘ soulful closer You Are So Beautiful.

Cold Chisel took time out from rehearsals for their massive, outdoor Blood Moon Tour 2020, which kicks off in Perth on New Year’s Eve and ends on 9 February at Sirromet Wines in South East Queensland, to receive the ARIA #1 Award today.

“We are really excited by Blood Moon hitting # 1 on the ARIA chart – an incredible 21 years after our last one,” says frontman Jimmy Barnes. “We never take anything for granted, so huge thanks to our loyal army of fans who have helped make this happen. We love Blood Moon– it’s our best collection of songs since the ‘80s.”

This week, the band also visited Sydney’s Foodbank headquarters to thank staff for their tireless work and help pack a few Christmas hampers themselves. Foodbank is Australia’s largest food relief organisation, operating on a scale that makes it crucial to the work of the front line charities who are feeding vulnerable Australians. Foodbank will be further supported in various ways throughout the Blood Moon Tour 2020 including fundraising collections at each venue on the tour and the auction of a tour banner signed by the band on eBay here.

The first 100 cassettes ordered on the band’s online store were individually numbered and all proceeds from the sale of these will go to Foodbank to assist them in providing food for 815,000 Australians each month.

Over 175,000 tickets to the outdoor Blood Moon Tour 2020 have been sold in Australia and New Zealand with A Day on the Green shows at Sirromet Wines in Queensland (1st show), Victoria’s Mt. Duneed Estate and Rochford Wines, Heifer Station in Orange, NSW and NZ’s Wharepai Domain show all SOLD OUT.

Tickets to all remaining shows on the tour are selling EXTREMELY fast so fans wanting to catch the iconic band on what’s likely to be their final major tour should act fast before they’re all gone.

Fans are reminded to only buy tickets by following the ticket links listed below. People who choose to ignore this clear advice and who instead use search engines like Google to find tickets typically get steered to unofficial reselling sites like Viagogo that often lead to rip offs.

New album Blood Moon out now

02Cold-Chisel

Cold Chisel’s new studio album, Blood Moon, is released today on a myriad of different formats – including Deluxe CD (with bonus DVD), standard CD, Blood Moon-coloured vinyl, an extremely limited Cassette (yes, cassette!) and all digital formats.

In typical Cold Chisel style, there’s a potpourri of ideas, sounds and genres across Blood Moon – from the chooglin’ boogie of the first single Getting The Band Back Together, which celebrates the weekend warrior in all of us (including the band), to the angry, visceral epic Killing Time, the high-speed oblivion of Drive, the crazed-carnival sounds of Boundary Street to Ian Moss’ soulful closer You Are So Beautiful.

The songs also came together in different ways – some were straight from the pen of Don Walker; Buried Treasure was the first songwriting contribution between Charley Drayton and Walker; and some tumbled out unusually: “In between our demoing and the recording, a friend of mine was reading Songs and he asked me about a handful of songs that had never been recorded or released, but were included in the book,” says Don. Two of those songs, “Boundary Street” and “Accident Prone” found their way, at the eleventh hour, onto Blood Moon. “They were songs I’d written many years before but hadn’t thought to submit. Through being reawakened to them, I tossed them in the ring and both of them stuck.”

Don and Jimmy also found a new way to work together. “Working with Don has evolved over the years,” says Barnes. “It was very intimidating when I first started writing with Don, in the earliest days of Cold Chisel. Don was writing ‘Khe Sanh’ when I was sort of scratching my head, trying to put three lines together (he laughs). In the past, when we’d write I’ve written music and Don’s written lyrics. It’s only in the last two years that the process has turned around. I think particularly since writing the two autobiographies I’ve found my voice as a writer and I think I’ve had the confidence to write and then to say ‘Hey Don, I’ve sent you some lyrics.’ I would send lyrics to Don and he’d say ‘It’s so great to have lyrics that I don’t have to anguish over.’”

The Barking Spiders, announce a special one-off gig in Sydney on Saturday, 28 December 2019.

Screenshot 2019-12-05 08.45.16

Notorious mystery band, The Barking Spiders, have announced a special one-off gig at The Factory Theatre in Sydney’s Marrickville on Saturday, 28 December 2019.

Tickets go on sale at 9.00am tomorrow, Friday 6 December.

TICKET INFO BELOW

Some will be available online via Ticketek while the remaining tickets will all be bundled with special editions of Cold Chisel’s new CD, Blood Moon, in four Sydney music shops for those who get in fast.

Red Eye Records and Utopia Records in the city will each have some tickets as will Hum Music in King Street, Newtown and Beatdisc Records in Parramatta. These stocks are expected to sell out quickly so fans are strongly advised to be standing on the outside when the doors of these stores open to give themselves the best chance of attending this rare performance.

Barking Spiders Poster

The Barking Spiders myth and legend has grown deeper and darker over the years, despite the fact that the band has never entered a recording studio. Preferring to play small, semi-secret shows their one and only album – The Barking Spiders Live 1983 – has gone on to be hailed as an Australian classic.

Pundits have rumoured that The Barking Spiders are actually a famous band who originated in Adelaide in the 1970s but these rumours have never been confirmed. Both bands have consistently maintained a strict ‘no comment’ policy on this sensitive topic.

This web of insectival intrigue will likely be woven further at the intimate Factory Theatre on Saturday, 28 December 2019.

The Barking Spiders will be supported by Sydney post-punk outfit, 100, who have signed binding NDA agreements, preventing them from making any comment.
