Tickets will go on sale at 9am on Monday February 27, with special advance ticket sales for Cold Chisel mailing list members, Zaccaria subscribers and MyTicketek.

When Cold Chisel announced their record breaking Light The Nitro tour in 2011 they were completely overwhelmed by the demand for tickets, ultimately selling out 36 shows across Australia and New Zealand and playing to over 275,000 people. However, due to the logistics of touring and geography, it was impossible for the band to add any more dates to their two shows at Margaret River and Belvoir Amphitheatre, both of which sold out in minutes. As W.A. fans pleaded for more, the band announced that they were committed to finding a way to get back to Perth in early 2012 and so today’s announcement delivers on that.

“We tried everything to make more gigs happen in W.A. last year but it just wasn’t possible,” said Cold Chisel’s frontman Jimmy Barnes. “We can’t wait to return and put some rock & roll into your Easter. We owe you one Perth!”

Expect more announcements of special shows in other parts of Australia around Cold Chisel’s new album, their first in 14 years! Stay tuned!

A ‘Thank You’ from Cold Chisel

News

For the few of us who spent our youth as members of Cold Chisel, 2011 began with tragedy, and ended with the most extensive and positive tour we’ve ever done. The local representatives unanimously requested that the show proceed despite this week’s tragic bushfires. The band and promoters therefore agreed to respect local wishes and will ensure that the concert goes ahead as originally planned.

Ray Colyer, Augusta-Margaret River Shire President, said that despite the bushfire devastation in the region of the last few days, the local community and businesses will welcome the concert. “We believe the concert will bring real positive emotional and economic benefit to the community here. Everyone wants this great event to go ahead, and we are all looking forward to it.”

The meeting between the stakeholders, which also included Gary Evershed, CEO of Augusta-Margaret River Shire, and Mike Archer, CEO of the Shire of Busselton, identified that the concert site is far enough away from the fire effected areas for there to be no safety concerns.

At the initiative of Cold Chisel and the concert promoters, and with the support of the local Councils, there will also be some additional fundraising activity at the concert.
All proceed from those efforts will go to the Lord Mayors Distress Relief Fund, to assist those affected by the fires.

The first of these various fundraising initiatives will be the auctioning of a special electric guitar which will be signed at the show by all the members of Cold Chisel. This auction will be open to anybody who cares to bid and further auction details will be posted on our site over the next 24 hours.

A spokesperson for Cold Chisel said, “The band has been saddened by the fact that so many people have suffered such serious losses in these fires. They hope that the show tomorrow night can lift some spirits and help raise a few extra dollars for those who are doing it very tough right now.”

There will also be fundraising activity at the concert with all proceeds going to the Lord Mayors Distress Relief Fund, to assist those affected by the fires.

Cold Chisel will play Sandalford Estate Margaret River this Saturday 26th November as part of their national Light The Nitro tour.

COLD CHISEL NOW AVAILABLE ON iTUNES WORLDWIDE

News

The entire Cold Chisel catalogue, all totally remastered, is now available on iTunes worldwide. The album – The Best of Cold Chisel – All for You – is unusual because the track-listing was chosen by the band’s fans. The album is released physically and digitally on Friday, 14 October.

In addition to featuring 18 Cold Chisel classics, the album will also feature 2 brand new songs: the powerful and emotive title track All For You and the revhead, rockabilly gem HQ454 Monroe, which actually features the lyric that provided the name for the Light The Nitro Tour.

A special limited edition version of the CD will also include a bonus disc that features a dozen of the band’s most loved covers, including their reading of Bob Dylan’s Knocking On Heaven’s Door, The Troggs’ Wild Thing, Creedence Clearwater Revival’s Long As I Can See The Light, Ike and Tina Turner’s River Deep, Mountain High, as well as their lesser-heard version of Dragon’s Sunshine, and more.

Over 10,000 people had their say during the 5 days in which voting was open via the band’s website, leading to the following track listing:

1. Standing on the Outside
2. Flame Trees
3. Khe Sanh
4. When the War Is Over
5. Cheap Wine
6. Bow River
7. Rising Sun
8. Choirgirl
9. All for You
10. Saturday Night
11. Forever Now
12. Breakfast at Sweethearts
13. Yakuza Girls
14. Four Walls
15. You Got Nothing I Want
16. My Baby
17. Shipping Steel
18. Ita
19. HQ 454 Monroe
20. Goodbye (Astrid Goodbye)

While the inclusion of undeniable anthems like Khe Sanh, Flame Trees, You Got Nothing I Want and Cheap Wine was to be expected, the public’s selection of Shipping Steel and Yakuza Girls came as a surprise to the band. The inclusion of these songs vindicated their decision to let the audience pick the songs.

In addition, the band invited people to write comments while making their song choices – and a selection of the thousands of messages have been included in the liner notes for the Best Of. Running the gamut from emotional and honest to funny and passionate, these make for compelling and unique reading and illustrate the deep connection between Cold Chisel and their audience.

Cold Chisel have enjoyed a phenomenal resurgence over recent months. The digital release of their catalogue and a series of acclaimed CD reissues have helped make their Light the Nitro Tour the hottest concert event of 2011, with over 250,000 tickets sold so far.

The Best of Cold Chisel – All for You will serve as an introduction to all those music lovers who might be experiencing the band for the first time on this special tour.
